Why restore rather than replace
Cast-iron balustrades on Brussels façades are part of the city's identity: moulded patterns, scrollwork, rosettes, with a finesse modern manufacturing can't reproduce. When corrosion, an impact or time damages them, reaching for a replacement loses that character for good. Restoration preserves it, and gives the façade back its original value.
Cast iron is a demanding material: brittle, it doesn't weld like steel. It's specialist work, and it's exactly our workshop's specialty.

Depending on condition, the work includes: full cleaning and stripping, specialised cast-iron welding, replacement of missing parts, anti-corrosion treatment and period-accurate finishing, true to the original design.
The City of Brussels grant
Good news for property owners: the City of Brussels reimburses 40 to 60 percent of façade improvement costs, which covers cast-iron balconies, railings and brackets, up to €14,000 per file depending on the façade's width. Other Brussels municipalities run their own grant schemes: check with yours, or ask us during the visit.

We come and examine the piece on-site: condition of the cast iron, missing parts, fixings, anchoring into the façade. You receive a detailed, free quote within 48 hours. Depending on the job, restoration happens on-site or in the workshop after careful removal, then the piece is reinstalled and protected for decades to come.

My balustrade is badly damaged, can it still be restored?
In the vast majority of cases, yes. Even with broken or missing parts, we can weld the cast iron and remake the missing elements true to the original design. The on-site assessment is free.
How much does a balustrade restoration cost?
It all depends on the condition, the length involved and the complexity of the pattern. The quote is free and detailed, and the City of Brussels grant can cover 40 to 60 percent of eligible works.
Does the balustrade need to be removed to be restored?
Not always. Light work is done on-site. When the condition calls for it, we carefully remove the piece, restore it in the workshop, and reinstall it.
Do you work outside Brussels?
